Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I am a 48-year-old woman who contracted Dengue Fever in February 2011.I still have not fully recovered, and now seem to have an interrupted heartbeat, which makes aerobic exercise frightening. Could the dengue fever and heart issues be related? If so, what course of action do you recomend?
Yes, any sort of viral infection like dengue can affect heart which can lead to various symptoms like breathlessness or irregular heart rates (ectopics).
It’s advisable that you should get a basic cardiac evaluation done in the form of ECG and echocardiography as further course of action.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Bhanu Partap, Cardiologist
