Does Kenalog Injection Cause Deterioration Of Muscles Permanently?
I have a large dent in my right glute....i read that Kenalog injections can cause this - deterioration of the muscle..is this true and is it permanent. I had a shot earlier this year in this place and actually have had two in the past year- because i didn t want to take oral steroids for a sinus infection...
Muscle weakness and muscle atrophy (decrease in muscle bulk) are established complications of intramuscular steroid injections.
Inorder to know whether the damage to the muscle is transient or permanent, Muscle biopsy, Electromyography and Nerve conduction studies are needed.
An exercise program (under the direction of a therapist) is recommended to help treat muscle atrophy. Ultrasound therapy and TENS therapy are also advocated to treat muscle atrophy.
I suggest you to consult a Neurophysician for further diagnosis and management.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
