Does Left Ventricular Hypertrophy Indicate Congestive Heart Failure?
Recently, my afib was corrected and I am using Multaq and Metoprolol. I m told that echo shows thickening of the wall of the left ventricular. I am usually short of breath and have been told that more exercise like walking can help. Do you think I have congestive heart failure, and are there medications which can help beyond those mentioned? Thanks Tom

Does Left Ventricular Hypertrophy Indicate Congestive Heart Failure?
Hello, It is a sign of long-standing hypertension or valvular heart disease. As the echo shows no features of valvular heart disease. high blood pressure may be the cause. If the ejection fraction is normal, nothing much to worry and only conservative management will be enough. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
