Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
3 month after I started using Liptruzet( being also diabetic ) I started experienceing severe pain in the back of my lower legs from under the knee down toy ankles , this pain only when I excercize or go for long walk. Do you think this is a side effect of this drug ?
Liptruzet (atorvastatin+ezetimibe) can cause statin induced myopathy because of the atorvastatin component. Although the muscle pain distribution as described by you do not fit the typical description of statin myopathy, the severe pain has to be investigated and statin myopathy be ruled out. I would suggest you to undergo serum creatinine kinase(CK) lab test under physician guidance. And the pattern of exercise induced pain points towards a peripheral vascular disease. Since you are also a diabetic, I would have referred you to a vascular surgeon for further evaluation.
