Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Does Long Term Usage Of Metoprolol Tartrate Or Amldopine Cause Obesity?
If this is a free service awesome! Otherwise I can t afford it! Does taking heart meds like metoprolol gartrate 50 mg 2times a dayplus amldopi e 10mg twice a day increase your weight easily? I also take thyroid and a few others I ve taken for yes. The past year and a half the weight is really piling on me thanks!
Some of the older beta blockers like metoprolol can lead to weight gain. Carvedilol which is one of the newer beta blockers does not have this side effect. Amlodipine may cause swelling over the feet but it does not cause weight gain. Meanwhile, you should get your TSH levels checked regularly as hypothyroidism can also lead to weight gain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
