Does Loud Screaming In My Ears Cause Ear Damage?

I recently had a girl at work scream as loud as she could within a foot of my years and they hurt. Over the last few days since this happened the pain has slowly seem to go away but no they still ache slightly. Is it possible that may have caused any damage and what can I do for the pain?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Yes, very loud sound can damage our eardrum...you seem to have inflammation of the eardrum following the incident.

Over the counter, anti-inflammatory pills would help in fast healing but before that it is ideal to check for severe injury like perforation of the drum.

Do not clean with water or stick yourself. Get examined by an ENT doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
