Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Been smoking marijuana for 15 years daily. Have developed a nagging chronic cough. Keeps me up at night. It happens more right after I smoke but will happen here and there during the day at work. I want to continue smoking on a daily basis but don t want to cause permanent damage. Any suggestions?
It's a concern. Only about 15% of those who use marijuana get lung inflammation from it, but if you do have lung inflammation, that certainly can irritate the lung and probably produce some damage. With other damaging conditions (cigarettes, dusts, occupational exposure to other irritants), the inflammation will make the damage much worse. A good reason to avoid marijuana exposure.
yes chronic smoking of marijuana will lead to permanent lung disease called COPD which gets worsened with time. i suggest you to stop smoking immediatly as your symptoms can still be reversed.and your lung which has partially been affected causing chronic cough will stop.
