Does Medication For Ankylosing Spondylitis Cause Itchy Body With Burning Sensation?
My mother is suffering from7-8 Ankylosing Spondylitis since last 7-8 years and is taking Saaz DS twice daily and also Enbrel 50 Injection every 15 days. She is also taking medicines for gastritis, blood pressure and diabetes. While the disease is more or less under control, but she is having trouble with severe itching in whole body and burning sensation in whole body. Anti allergic drug and some skin lotion and soap have not given relief from itching. I wish to know, whether these symptoms are side effect of Saaz or Enbrel and if so, can the doze of Saaz Ds be reduced? Thanks
Any medication can cause itchy body sensation with burning. If one is allergic to it. It could be any drug or any other substance she is taking.
Saaz is a sulfa drug and those commonly cause allergies. There are others that also work and are not sulfa drugs.
Cannot say in your particular case, but certainly, discussions with your doctor before stopping medicine is required. Also, allergies can have serious consequences.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
