Does Meibomitis Require Surgical Intervention?
Hi doctor , Few days back my right eye was paining a lot. And then the next day it started to swell. And then i consulted an eye doctor he said I am suffering from Meibomitis. And he gave me eye drops and some medicine. And a week has already passed . After taking a week s medicine he said that u have to get it operated can you tell me is it necessary to get an operation done. Or should i consult a better doctor. Please reply

Meibominitis is inflammation of the meibomian glands and the treatment for the condition is by use of antibiotics, antiinflammatory drugs.
Applying hot compression and lid scrubs provides symptomatic relief.
No surgery is usually required for this condition.
Hence I advice you to consult a ophthalmologist for examination and treatment accordingly.
