Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Does Meningococcal Vaccination Cause Dizziness, Nausea And Headache?
My 16 year old daughter has been having dizziness, nausea, slight headache. She says everything feels like it s going in slow motion today! She also has a light but very itchy rash on her legs! Could this be a reaction to the meningococcal vaccine she received last Friday?
Yes, it could be the reaction to vaccine since the antigen is being introduced to her body and lot of immune response will be going on. Immune mediators will be released in the body which will cause all these symptoms.
Suboptimal level of infection might have caused this but this will get settled in 2 to 3 days only or maybe for a week. If it is getting worse then only take her to the doctor. The doctor will give you an antibiotic for full course of treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Archana
