Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. Last week I had a urinalysis done that had pus cells of 25-35/hpf and rbc of 2-3/hpf. I was prescribed ciprofloxacin bid for 7 days. I had a repeat urinalysis done. I was expecting the pus cells to decrease, but instead the result was too numerous to count with rbc of 1-2/hpf. When I repeated the urinalysis, I did not have a vaginal spotting. However, I started to have some now. Does menstruation affect the urinalysis?
Hi, I think menstruation can't affect the urine report if the urine sample is not contaminated with menstrual blood. Get a urine culture and sensitivity test done. Take antibiotics according to the culture reports. It might help.
