does methodone effect your heart rate ? im very concerned my mother has been on methadone 10 mgs twice a day for chronic pain and just recently was having dizzy spells and went to the er and the doctors said her heart rate was 40 and the reason was methadone..it helps her pain extremely well and I hate to see her go thru all of the pain again and my frustrations are we are from a small town were any kind of pain med is look at like you are a druggy and they right away say that is what is wrong before looking into other reason? she is 72 yrs old and im scared the withdrawl will hurt her also..they just told her to stop taking it twice a day to only once and told her there is no withdraw from methadone, then I read all the horrible things online and im very concerned
Methadone is concerned for producing dizziness, low blood pressure, heart rate and other autonomic dysfunction more particularly in an aged person. Though there can be withdrawal symptoms in some patients, the gradual assisted withdrawal would not cause much of the problems with her. Do follow advise of your doctor carefully and get best results out of it.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
