Does Mouth Rinse With Air Freshner Oil Cause Harm?
I accidently rinsed my mouth out with oil from a plug in room freshener. I didn t swallow any of it, just swished it around in my mouth after brushing my teeth. I rinsed a couple of times with warm water after I realized what I had done. Do you think I did any harm to my mouth or body? thank you for your help
The room freshener may contain certain chemicals that can cause burning and inflammation inside the mouth and along with it, there can also be sloughing of the mucosa due to burning and irritation. In case if you do not have any burning sensation and there is no irritation or pain or burning on eating then there is nothing to be worried about.
Also keep a watch on any symptoms of dizziness, vomiting sensation, vertigo etc, although chances are slim as you have not swallowed anything. For now, keep rinsing the mouth thoroughly and also always be cautious while taking anything orally as it can be fatal. For now, I do not think anything is serious.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
