General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It may be a form of STD. The pap smear findings are suggestive of bacterial vaginosis (bacterial infection of vagina). This type of infection occurs due to an imbalance of “good” and “harmful” bacteria that are normally found in a woman’s vagina. Its exact cause is not known however, having a new sex partner or multiple sex partners, as well as douching, can upset the balance of bacteria in the vagina and thus increases the risk for getting the infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
