right now im taking niacin, 500mg, i have noticed, when taking this med, i feel like my body is on fire, like a bad sunburn, I see that if one consumes alcohol, this could make it worse, is this fact? also, does being in the sun, while taking this med, make my chances more of feeling like im on fire? is there anything I can do to make this stop?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Unfortunately all medications have potential side effects.

Niacin has been associated with burning of the skin in some persons.

If you use the formulation of niacin that is slow release, it would reduce this effect or the use of NSAIDS may also help if taken 30 mins prior.

That includes medications suh as ibuprofen, cataflam, naproxen, aspirin.

If the effect is intolerable for you or does not improve, you may need to consider asking your doctor for an alternative.

I hope this helps
