Does Pain In The Neck Of A 4-year-old Indicate Strep?
my youngest daughter and i recently were on antibiotics for strep. now my 4 yr old says her neck hurts. she points to the front and back. i would assume she has strep but yesterday and today my glands maybe are hurting. i don t know how to describe it but when i tilt my head deep in my neck it hurts. i just want to make sure that this isn t anything more than possible strep again. 4 yr old has fever 100.7, at 5:30 . I m not running fever just feel a heaviness on my chest. thank you
Neck pain and fever can be due to a common cold, which is a viral infection and is self-limiting or it may indicate a more important infection present such as strep throat or other.
It is good to have your child checked with the doctor to make sure of the exact cause of the symptoms and if there is a need for antibiotics or not. The doctor will check the throat, lungs and also the neck for the presence of lymph nodes and then will decide the further treatment.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
