I've placental calcification shown on ultrasound at 37 weeks of gestation. The ultrasound also showed that my baby was small for date (only 34-35 weeks size). My doctor said that I should consider induction of labour. Is the small baby related to placental calcification?Should I wait and see?
hi,yes placental calcification can result in a small baby.but before undergoing induction of labour you should undergo an umbilical artery doppler.if doppler is normal you can wait and continue the pregnancy for another 10 to 14 days but if doppler shows changes you will have to consider induction.till then you can start taking arginine sachets twice a day for this time and keep a watch on fetal movements which should be min 12 in a day.all the best and take care.
