Does Poison Ivy On The Groin Require Immediate Medical Attention?

I have poison ivy on my groin. It s annoying, but otherwise harmless. Redness, bumps, and itching, but no swelling, blisters, or weeping sores. My wife wants to go to the ER for the steroid, but everything online seems to suggest waiting it out, which is fine for me because I work from home.

Hello,

* When the lesion is stable, not progressive, symptoms free; in my clinic I do recommend a close observation at home with symptomatic care only.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
