Does Prolonged Use Of Edonax Injections Have Any Side Effects?
Hello, i wanted to ask something, my mother is 52 years old and is having high blood pressure, diabetes etc. Doctors also said that she is having osteoporosis, so i wanted to ask that how long should we inject the edonax injection, and what can be the side effects of prolonged period of use???
Hi & Welcome. I appreciate your concern for your beloved mother.
Injection Edonax (Zoledronic Acid) is an effective medication used in the treatment of osteoporosis. It inhibits bone resorption (antiresorptive) & effectively increases bone mineral density and decreases vertebral as well as non-vertebral fractures. It is usually given as once-weekly regimen for at least 2-3 years. Generally well tolerated, however its prolonged use may cause osteomyelitis of the jaw which is quite rare. Besides the medication she may also be encouraged to take calcium and vitamin D supplements each day. Hope the suggestions given above would be useful to her.
