I have been taking methadone 10mg. tab 2X a day to fight chronic pain in the L-4,L-5,&S-1 due to an injury back in 2001. I had been prescribed the strongest pain meds (oxy,percocet,&etc..) from 2001 to 2004 that simply did not help. 2004 I went on the Methadone and it allowed me to have the least amount of pain. On 11/04/14 a new Dr. ( VA-retired VET) at the VA said I should not be taking the methadone because of its long term health effects. The new meds simply do not work. My question is methadone the wrong medicine for me to take even though it has been working since 2004. Methadone has also eliminated my lifelong migraine headaches! I m a male aged 67.
