Does Quitting Klonopin Cause Severe Withdrawal Side Effects?

I have been taking 1 mg of klonipin for about 6 years for sleep. I ve read all the info on line saying it s very hard to get off klonipin. After reading about the connection between klonipin and Alzheimers I am trying to taper off. I called my psychiatrist and told him I d read all the horror stories about this and asked if he d call me to set up a withdrawal schedule. He had his nurse call me back and tell me that I was ridiculous because there are NO withdrawal symptoms with this drug.

Hi there. Klonopin can have withdrawal effects if drug is stopped abruptly. Try and avoid this. Try and stop it very slowly, even at quarter a tablet every month. If you feel withdrawal symptoms you can even make the peroid of tapering longer. Good luck
