hi while feeding a racoon last night it grabbed the food out of my hand.It s tooth scraped across my finger. It did not break the skin at all, however i have very dry skin so my hand has very small little cuts, but no bleeding.there was no saliva on my hand.I washed it right and poured peroxide on it. I am very concerend about getting rabies.Do I need to worry?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Amarnath's Response
welcome to hcm,# short answer : have anti rabiesvaccination as per schedule. it is very rare for you to get rabies but Feeding and touching of animals and licking on your skin needs no treatment but Mild scratches without bleeding or broken skin needs a post exposure prophylaxis so i advice you to take rabies vaccination full course hope this finds useful with regards Dr.Amarnath
