Does Recovery From A Hip Surgery Take Long?

I have MS. Confined to wheelchair for 8 years. 67 year old female. Last hip MRI showed severe Osteoarthritis and degeneration of hip joint degeneration of bone and cartilage. Hip surgery recommended. What is the general procedure and how will rehabilitation be accomplished considering my inability to stand up at all? How long will I be in a facility?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

A hip surgery is a major one but presently with latest surgery techniques, it can be done with the least risk and good success rates.

The joint surgery might require a hospital stay of 5 days to a weekl and then you need to take physical therapy to mobilise the hip joint.

Yes many people who are unable to stand up, will benefit from hip surgery.

Regards,
