Does Removal Of Adrenal Gland Cause Weight Gain?

18 months ago I discovered that I had neuroendocrine carcinoid tumours, and had an operation to remove the primary tumour in the small bowel, ovary, adrenal gland and part of the liver. Since regaining my health I seem to be putting on weight, could there be a connection between the removal of the adrenal gland and weight gain. Thanks, Marj Vaughan

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello

Thanks for asking a question at HCM

I understand your concern and I will be glad to answer it for you.

I don't think there is a connection with the past surgery and weight gain. However, get thyroid levels checked once. TSH, T3 AND T4 to ruleout Hypothyroidism

I also advise you to get LH, and FSH levels checked once.

Hope this helps!

Best Regards
Dr Chaithanya
