Does Removal Of Pancreas Lead To Type 1 Diabetes?

I have hereditary pancreatitis, I m in pain everyday, I can t eat what I want, drink alcohol or smoke, and surgeons are thinking of removing my pancreas but I will become brittle type 1 diabetic. Should I stay with having a dying, painful pancreas till it stops working or have it removed?
