Does Severe Cold Intolerance Indicate Heart Disease?
Recently (most recent occurrence 6/20/15) I have been experiencing extreme sensitivity to cold. I'll just break out in goosebumps from head to toe and get so cold that it almost hurts. I had this occur Saturday evening while outside in 80 degree weather and wearing a tshirt & jeans - my arms were warm but my fingertips were ice cold. Also (this did not occur Sat.) I've noticed my fingers & right above my wrists on both hands will suddenly and radomnly turn a bluish grey and consistently lately my nail beds are extremely pale/white. Occasionally I've even noticed that my right hip will lack registering me running my hand up and down it - it feels as if it's almost numb/tingly. I am 26 years old, 66.5" tall, weight 113 and am a smoker. I also my resting/normal heart rate normally registers between 110 and 130. Is there a problem with my heart or veins?
Hello dear user! I have gone through your query and understood your concerns! Thank you for sharing them on healthcaremagic. Generally numbness inf fingers with cold feeling, pale/white fingers and nails, may indicate a condition called "Raynaud syndrome" which comes from small blood vessels strictures. Smoking is a factor which may worsen this condition. Cold intolerance may be seen in thyroid gland diseases with hypothyroidism too. I would recommend you to go through some tests and examinations to determine the real cause of your concerns. - Blood sugar and lipids - Thyroid hormones - Complete blood count and electrolytes - Blood pressure monitoring. According to the findings we will be able to have a more accurate opinion about your health. Talk with your family doctor at your healthcare center and let him know the results of the tests. I hope this answer was helpful to you! Please kindly rate it as helpful and write a short review about your experience with me! I would appreciate that a lot. Thank you and best regards! DR ERIOL.
