Does Severe Pain And Swelling In Foot After A Fall Mean Fracture?
My son (13) jumped off a wall yesterday afternoon and landed badly on his foot. Since then his foot has been hurting on the top. It has been getting worse and now the foot is very swollen and he can t sleep from pain. I made an appointment at the doctor for tomorrow lunch time. My question is: could it be broken even though the pain was not that bad in the beginning and if it were to be broken is it terrible that we waited so long to go to the doctor?
Hi,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that your son jumped from wall and landed on her foot .So it is likely that he got fracturecalcaneum or fracture ankle. This can be confirmed by x-rays. Till then it is treated it as soft tissue injury. Rest and analgesic such as ibuprofen is treatment. Elevation of limb over pillow will be useful. Icing is helpful. You can visit orthopedic surgeon. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it. I do hope that you have found something helpful. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. Wishing you good health. Take care.
