Does Short-lived Numbness Of Left Arm With Finger Cramps Indicate A Mini-stroke?

My left arm was kind of numb and fingers were cramping up then by heart rate sped up for about 5 min or so. this was around 1pm this afternoon and i drove myself home just fine. i feel fine now. i do have some pre-existing issues with my left arm due to weight lifting and fighting (ex-boxer and current trainer). I just want to make sure i didn t have a mini stroke???

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

A temporary feeling of numbness in your left arm is usually no cause of alarm. It will likely resolve on its own.

Problems with your arteries and veins can interfere with the blood supply in your arms and can cause numbness.

But if numbness persists, you should contact your doctor as the reason could be as serious as a heart attack.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Prabhash Verma, General & Family Physician
