Does Skipping Birth Control Pills Cause Unwanted Pregnancy?
Hi, I ran my pill for 5 weeks in a row but then decided I wanted to have my break a week before I finished the 2nd pack I had ran. (So I took 5 weeks worth of pills instead of 6) I had my break and then have started a new pack again, will I be protected straight away because I took my break after 5 weeks instead of finishing the last week in the pack.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
If you stop taking pills for 1 week even after taking for 5 weeks it doesn't assure you protection from pregnancy. You need to take them regularly as advised if you want 100% effectiveness of the pills. If you have any further queries I'm happy to help.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
