Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I manage 3rd shift operations for my distribution center. Lately, I have been having dizzy spells that include a pulsating in my head, often lasting 20 minutes to an hour or more. These episodes are accompanied by elevated blood pressure (148/93, for example) which decreases as the symptoms subside. I am unable to concentrate during the episodes. Because I am on 3rd shift, I regularly get 3-4 hours of actual sleep a day with the occassional extra 1-2 hours of fitful dozing in and out. I have been on this shift for 2 1/2 years now. Could my dizzy spells be as simple as sleep deprivation or should I be concerned?
After going through your query I understand your concern.
I would like to tell you that sleep deprivation can be the cause of your dizziness but should be evaluated because lack of sleep leads to physical and mental health problems, injuries, loss of productivity, and risk of death. Your is borderline high , and possibilities of developing heart disease with sleep deprivation are there.
