Does Slight Overdose Of Keflex Cause Medical Complications In A Child?

MMy daughter weighs 31 pound was given a prescription of Keflex on Sunday morning I have been giving her one and a half tablespoons of Keflex since since we started the bottle is running low, and so I looked on the dosage cup an I mistakenly have given her one and a half tablespoons of Keflex instead of one and a half teaspoons. What do I do now? Should I be alarmed? She is supposed to have them mes twice a day.

Hi,

Overdose of the drug in a child can show exaggerated side effects like nausea, vomiting, loose motions, weakness.

Even if none is seen vital organs like liver &kidney are likely to get affected.

Please take the baby to treat doctor, let him exam in &decide about further treatment (to avoid side effects /to ascertain healing the cause for which antibiotic was prescribed).

You can start vitamin B complex syrup &Live 52 syrup for preventive purposes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
