hi i am pregnant and i am due to have her in 4 days but i have being taking a few drags of a smoke everyday since 3 weeks ago, would that harm my baby now or is it worse to smoke at the start of pregnancy. would u be able to answer my question please
Hi, Thanks for using HCM. Smoking during pregnancy can lead to a plethora of health risks to both the mother and the fetus. Women who smoke during pregnancy are about twice as likely to experience the following pregnancy complications: 1.premature rupture of membranes 2.placental abruption 3.Premature birth 4.Implications for the umbilical cord Smoking can also impair the general development of the placenta, which is problematic because it reduces blood flow to the fetus. 5.Pregnancy-induced hypertension Effects of smoking during pregnancy on the child after birth 1.Low birthweight 2.Sudden infant death syndrome Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) is the sudden death of an infant that is unexplainable by the infant’s history. 3.Other birth defects So its better to discontinue smoking and report to your doc to see for the nicotine level in the babies blood once its born. Hope i have answered your queries. Good day.
