Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Does Spine Surgery Completely Cure Spinal Stenosis?
I have Spinal Stenosis and I went thru a series of different shots in my back in 2012. None of the shots worked and the doctor I was seeing just gave up on me. Now in 2016 my back pain is worse and getting worse with every passing day. I saw a surgeon and he sent me to pain management first to see if they could help. The doctor is trying shots even though he knows they didn t help in the past. I feel he is wasting time, but he will not send me back to the surgeon to operate until he has tried everything. I don t want to cover up the pain with Steroids or Opiates and would rather end the pain with surgery. The doctor I am seeing said that just because they operate it doesn t mean the pain will go away. If the pain isn t alleviated with surgery, why do people have Spine Surgery? I m really confused!
The spine surgery is not devoid of side effects as there can be paralysis, residual neurologic effects, failure of surgery or else. Kindly provide your MRI reports and X-ray plates, so that what are the prospects of pros and cons in your case so far as surgery is concerned, can be calculated out.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
