Hello! Statins area group of drugs that lower the
cholesterol in the body. They are highly effective, but they have also some side effects (myalgia, digestive problems,
liver damage, disorientatin or decreasded cognitive functions). The most known is myalgia (
muscle pain) which can be felt as pain, tiredness or weakness. In some cases myalgia makes difficult to realize daily activities. Very rarely statins cause
rhabdomyolysis (breakdown and destruction of muscle cells). Myalgia and other side effects of statins may be greater if the patient take multiple medications to lower the cholesterol, is over 65, has a small body, suffer kidney or liver disease.
Zetia (ezetimibe) can also have as a side effects but rarely, myalgia and pain in extremities.
Niacin lower
cholestrol levels only in high doses, that's why it is used only n combination with other lowerin cholesterol drugs.
If ostheoarthritis is also present it adds the pains and discomfort.
In my opinion your doctor should reevaluate cholesterol levels and if it is necessary to take the three drugs.
I hope i have been of help.
