Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. I am 39 yr old female 5 4 and 134 lbs. Last week II had a bad stomach bug and developed iritis. When I went to the Dr for eye pain she recommended blood work, as I hand t had it done before. The results came back with elevated liver enzymes AST 86 and ALT 98. I won t see my doc until Thursday, and am feeling nervous about the elevation. My question is, could a stomach virus cause elevated enzymes? Thanks!
Welcome to HCM. Sorry about your recently illness. Yes the stomach viral gastroenteritis could and will cause some elevations in the liver enzymes, this can be followed if wished but this should be benign, at those levels I would not be too concerned. I hope this puts you at ease. Good luck and thank you.
