General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and thank you for your question. I am very sorry that this happened to your son. When strep or any form of bacteria gets into the bloodstream it can cause serious life threatening infections. This can irritate the brain and cause seizures. It can take many months to recover from this kind of infection. Hopefully he will return to normal, but it can take quite a while. If he is willing to have you go to the doctor with him then his personal doctor can better explain to you what has happened to him and about his recovery. I hope he is well soon.
