Does Swelling And Pain In The Nose Require Medical Attention?
I have a swollen nostral on the outsid of my nose, on the left side, it feels hard & hot, This morning I thought it was a pimple coming out now my left cheek is also starting to swell and its hurting more and more. It s not a pimple. should i just sleep it off and see how it is tomorrow? im scared the pain will get worse.
I can understand your concern. It seems that you have acquired a bacterial infection either in the skin of the nose or in the nose itself which is starting spread towards the cheek now without treatment.
I recommend that you should start antibiotics to fight the infection and reduce swelling. You can take Cefixime 200 mg (Topcef) twice a day for 5 days. For relief in pain, you can start Ibuprofen 400 mg thrice in a day.
If the swelling and pain do not reduce in 5 days or if it keeps increasing, you should either a physician or an ENT specialist for the clinical examination of the swelling, possible drainage of the abscess or other necessary treatment.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
