I have bhp and take finasteride. I am currently on an antibiotic b/c I have had a recurrence of prostatitis (I get prostate infections…frequently). I have found that medications such as stimulants aggravate the prostatitis to an unbearable point. I cannot take anything of that nature. I was recently prescribed emsam patch for bipolar depression. I see no side-effect warnings about either of these, but my prostate is irritated and enlarged and urinary flow is not great. I hadn't connected this with emsam but, looking back, the prostate symptoms reappeared shortly after I began emsam and do not seem to be responding to the antibiotic. Previous to this, I had experienced several months of great improvement re my BPH because (I assumed) of my faithfully taking my finasteride. Could EMSAM be doing this? I read that its metabolites are amphetamines. Since I know for a certainty that amphetamines cause me severe prostate trouble very quickly this info about the metabolites made me wonder.

Next: Since EMSAM I have had swelling and pressure behind and above my eyes. My vision is becoming blurry. Does this sound like EMSAM?
