General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

Amlodipine is a drug appertaining to calcium-channel blocker drug class. Its effect is to dilated (widened) the blood vessels and improve blood flow.
This is associated with reduction in blood pressure.

However, apart this good effect, unfortunately the use of amlodipine is associated with edema (water retention).
This side effect is causing you to gain weight (4 pounds) within these 3 months.

I advise to report this side effect to your doctor in order to change therapy.

Hope this helps.
