Does Taking Ciprofloxacin 500 Mg Cause Diarrhea?

HI DOC. I was SCHED FOR a ct scan stonogram, ultra sound, urinalysis, creatinine test. I have done all except the ct scan due to financial difficulty. The doc read the results and prescribed ciprofloxacin 500 mg 2x daily for 14 days, this iera2004ms so while waiting for my ct stonogram, I started the ciprofloxacilin 2 days ago but now I am having serious case of diarrhea. 1st day I defecated 11 times in a day. 2nd day (today) 7th time since 5 am. Cannot reach the doc who gave me the prescription and i can t travel to the hospital due to my diarrhea. Can I stop taking ciprofloxacin? Its only my third day taking the drug. I was told that its bad not to complete the whole course thats why I am getting confused on what to do . Pls help me. William Mera Philippines. e mail : YYYY@YYYY

I have gone through your complaints and understand your concern.
I generally see many cases like this at my clinic.

ciprofloxacin can cause diarrhoea in some cases,if your body doesnt tolerate it. you can always ask for an alternative drug. that will suit ur gut.
You should eventually get back to normal in coming few days.Nothing to worry about, as long as i am there to help you.
