Does Taking Clenbuterol During Early Pregnancy Lead To Complications?

Hi,I recently found out that I am pregnant. I m pretty positive (since we were abstinent for a month before the wedding) that I am at least 6 weeks along. I am trying to get an appointment ASAP but would love some information in the meantime. I took clenbuterol for 3 weeks (probably around 2-4 weeks pregnant if I had to guess). The most the amount got up to, just on the third week, was 40 mcg twice a day. I obviously stopped as soon as I found out. What is the probability that it will have adverse affects on the baby? Has it been linked to any abnormalities?

Clenbuterol is a drug of "misuse" generally taken by the athletes for its potency in fat loss and muscle preservation in order to enhance performance.

It is a potent beta2-adrenergic agonist, exerting adrenaline-like effects on the body. Doses too high or combining with other supplements can result in increased heart beats, arrhythmia or sudden death.

As far as pregnancy is concerned it is a pregnancy category "C" drug, means animal studies have shown its harmful effects during pregnancy however the well controlled human studies did not show such harmful effects during pregnancy.

Now since you have stopped taking it, so there is nothing to worry.
However you must have periodic ante-natal checkup with ultrasound scans for follow up. Start taking iron and folic acid which will be prescribed by your doctor.
