Does Taking Clexane Cause Delay In Periods?
Hi there, I came off my period around 6 weeks ago. I have been on daily clexane injections following a major operation and I still haven t had my next period? I was due on a couple weeks ago. However, I came off the pill the day before my period started and had to because of my operation? Could this affect the regularity of my periods until my body gets used to not bring on the tablet?

Clexane injection contains enoxaparin that belongs to the group of medications known as anticoagulants is used to thin your blood and prevent further blood clots. Clexane works by blocking the protein that causes clotting in the blood. Clexane may cause increase bleeding during the menstrual cycles. Clexane usually doesn't affect the duration of menstrual periods or delay the cycle.
The delay in menstrual cycle can be resulted from stress like history of surgery, suddenly stop taking oral contraceptive pill, anxiety, dietary changes or strenuous activities. Again, you can do a pregnancy test 7 days after the next missed period to exclude the commonest reason of delayed cycles. If the delay in menstrual period lasts for long time, then you should inform your doctor first for medical help and further evaluation.
