Does Taking Curcumin Help Treat Pain And Inflammation Of The Nerves?
To your knowledge would curcumin help with inflamed nerves? I have chronic nerve pain (a peripheral neuropathy) with the trigger point in the right buttock. I ve done acupuncture, Pilates, had a laminectomy, etc. If curcumin might help, does one buy Tumeric or curcumin in tablet or capsule form? thanks, Bob Mandel

1. Since you have taken opinion of orthopedic Surgeon [undergone laminectomy] and also tried modalities of alternative Medicine thus following is my opinion on curcumin [turmeric]"
i. Curcumin controls the Vata [air] Dosha of our body and since pain is an important of Vata thus will surely help in alleviation of the symptoms. ii. Since it also helps in regulating blood supply [anti ischaemic] to the peripheral nerves thus is ideally suited for peripheral neuropathy iii. As it has got anti inflammatory properties thus is useful in inflammation caused due to nerve problems iv. As experimental studies have suggested that it does not cause serious side effects like ulcer formation, intestinal bleeding or decreased WBC, turmeric supplements are safer to use than raw turmeric and as it is mainly used in powder form thus capsule are the best option
