Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Consuming beer while on Levetiracetam may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, difficulty concentrating, impaired thinking, and loss of motor coordination which may result in falls and injuries.
Your friend should avoid or limit the use of beer or other alcohol-containing beverages while being treated with Levetiracetam and should also avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving, swimming or operating hazardous machines if any.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
