Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Does Taking Methamphetamine Cause Breathing Difficulty?
My daughter had difficulty breathing, went to the ER and after xrays and CT scan, we were told she has a pulmonary embolism. She is 20 and in good overall health, though while there she admitted to using meth. Can meth use lead to this condition? They discharged her from the ER after a drug test came back positive. It s the ER s standard procedure to drug test.
Hello dear Greetings Regarding your daughters difficulty in breathing with a pulmonary embolism from x-ray and CT scan following use of methamphetamine I will suggest that the dypnea is as a result of the pulmonary embolism indirectly caused by intake of methamphetamine
Actually the ER is the first point of contact where blood and urine test is taken to detect any presence of Illicit drug use which for her case became positive for methamphetamine
Concerning issue of standard procedure for drug test is usually evaluated by the drug enforcement agency department
In view of this she will need to see a psychologist specialist for further clinical assessment and adequate Councelling
I hope this helps Regards
