Does Taking NSAIDs Or Aspirin With Ticagrelor Cause Any Drug Interaction?
My question is in particular to interaction of NSAiSs with Ticagrelpr . How is is this different or similar to Aspirin and ticagrelor as I have back pain and need NSAIDS off and on. so far I have avoided it not because of the GI bleeding side effect but because aspirin higher than 100 mg May interfered with the action of Ticagrelor. do you have any info on this? thanks
It is not safe to take NSAIDs or high dose Aspirin along with Tricagrelor.
Although low dose Aspirin is often used together with Ticagrelor to prevent clot formation in blood vessels to reduce the risk of having serious heart problems or stroke. However, higher dosages of Aspirin may reduce the effectiveness of Ticagrelor.
Taking NSAIDs along with Ticagrelor may increase the risk of bleeding.
You should consult your doctor if you experience any unusual bleeding or bruising, or have other signs and symptoms of bleeding such as dizziness, bleeding from the nose, coughing up or vomiting fresh blood.
For your back pain, your doctor would prescribe opioid analgesics like Oxycodone or Paracetamol which can be taken safely while on Ticagrelor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
