Does Taking Phenobarbital Causes Behavioral Changes In Children?

when I was really young I had to be on phenobarbital I m talking 40+ years ago . It was in a big bottle and was pink liquid anyhow my mother said I was on it for more then a year she said it changed my personality from being a sweet kid to being evil can that be true?

Yes, behavioral changes can occur in children following the use of Phenobarbital.
In addition to common side effects of sedation, drowsiness, lethargy, vertigo, vomiting, Phenobarbital may cause hyperactivity, behavioral problems, memory impairment, impairment of tasks requiring sustained performance can occur in children and these effects are dose related to some extent. Other side effects include abnormal movements like tics, dyskinesias, periodic alternating nystagmus, oculogyric crises, dystonic reactions, and ataxia.
