Does Taking Tylenol With Codeine Cures Sore Throat, Cold Sores On Lips And Gum Pain?
My son is getting over a virus that has included fevers of 101-102, body aches, sore throat and gum pain around his back molars and where the wisdom teeth would be. The mouth discomfort does not seem to be getting better and he has not been able to eat anything other than liquids and very soft food for days. His doctor tested for strep throat and influenza which both were negative. He was prescribed Tylenol with codeine for sore throat and gum pain, but no other medicine. He also has two cold sores on his lips.
Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum. It appears to be the bacterial pharyngitis, other than the strep, or viral infection with the superinfection with the bacteria. I advise you to gargle with lukewarm salt water, one spoon of salt in a glass of water two times daily, for temporary relief. I usually prescribe to my patient with such symptoms erythromycin, phenylephrine, citrizine, and paracetamol. Avoid giving ice water, ice cream, fruits, and juices till he gets relief. Take more of green leafy vegetables, pulses, sprouts, and protein rich foods to hasten the recovery. Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
