Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a double masectomy and ooperectomy and I am over weight, I was reading that as I lose weight my estrogen levels will decrease causeing me to be prone to anxiety which I already have severly. I am on prozac will that off set the anxiety from the low levels of estrogen?
Prozac would help to control anxiety due to psychological reason and it would not control anxiety due to low estrogen. In that case, you need hormone replacement therapy that would get you better effect that antidepressant. Better to consult a gynecologist for hormone replacement therapy, in case, you would feel depressive symptoms with hormone therapy, then you can take antidepressant also.
Thanks
