I am a stage 1 breast cancer patient . I am on tamoxfin 20 mg a day will this affect my liver? I had cbc done last week it was all good doctor said liver count was borderline but didn t say I had to worry. If the meds I am on are mostly horomones should I be concerned about horomones affecting my liver. Thank you Sue Pate
Tamoxifen therapy has also been linked to the development of fatty liver.Serum aminotransferase elevations and fatty liver generally improve once tamoxifen is stopped, but the improvement may be slow.
Your doctor will keep a close eye on the liver enzymes and should be able to manage you without any problems.
Do note that, hormones are naturally occurring and they will cause problems only when in excess. So, if your good doctor keeps a close eye on things, you shouldn't worry too much.
Hope I was able to clear your doubts. Do get back in case I can assist you with anything else.
